The State Working Committee of the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has given the State Chairman, Mr. Stephen Leo Ntukepo, a vote of confidence and refuted rumors that he has been suspended.

After the executive council meeting on July 3, 2023, the party issued a statement saying that all conflicts within the State Executive had been settled and that the State Chairman had received a unanimous vote of confidence.

The communique states that “at the meeting, the entire State Executive Council members passed a vote of confidence on Obong Steven Ntukekpo as the State Chairman of the party and also pledged our full support for his pragmatic leadership style by preserving peace and unity within all components of the party.

“The State Executive Council’s recent disputes have been resolved amicably on all fronts, and the warring groups have agreed to retract a statement that had been making the rounds on various media platforms.”

The meeting asked party members and the wider public to ignore any reports that the State Chairman and Deputy had been suspended, according to the communiqué.

The statement also congratulated Senator Godswill Akpabio on becoming Senate President and acknowledged the former minister as the party’s leader in the state. It also made a commitment to engage with the party’s key stakeholders in the state to advance the party.
