Former Senate Leader, Senator Ali Ndume, has congratulated Rev Dr Amos Musa Mohzo on his re-election as President of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), urging him to use his position to foster religious harmony and national unity.

Ndume, who hails from Gwoza in Borno South — the same hometown as Mohzo — described the cleric’s rise from a classroom teacher to two-term COCIN president as a testament to his humility, dedication, and lifelong service to humanity.

In a message celebrating the re-election, the lawmaker praised Mohzo’s steady progression through the church hierarchy — from Deputy General Secretary to General Secretary, then Vice President, and now President — noting that his leadership journey reflects integrity and faith-driven commitment to nation-building.

“I have known you over the years as a humble, God-fearing personality, which informed your divine calling,” Ndume said. “You have remained an asset to our community in Gwoza, where you started early in life, imparting knowledge and mentoring people as a trained teacher. Your enviable records as Deputy General Secretary, General Secretary, Vice President and now President speak volumes.”

The senator also called on the cleric to use his renewed mandate to promote peace and unity among Nigerians of all faiths, especially at a time when divisive narratives threaten national cohesion.

“At this critical moment in our nation’s life, where external forces are trying to promote false narratives to instigate religious crises, the experience God has given you in managing diverse people will be invaluable,” he added. “I urge you and others in leadership positions of faith-based associations to work with government to promote mutual trust and understanding among Nigerians.”

Ndume reaffirmed his belief that faith leaders like Rev Mohzo play a vital role in shaping moral values, bridging divides, and guiding communities toward peace and progress.
