The Ondo State Police Command has opened a full investigation after a woman was discovered dead in a hotel room in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area, under circumstances that have raised serious concern.
The unidentified woman was found lifeless on Wednesday inside a hotel situated along the Ore–Okitipupa Road. Her male companion, who reportedly checked into the room with her earlier in the day, fled before the distressing discovery was made.
A hotel staff member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the pair arrived together and showed no signs of distress at the time of check-in. Trouble began when a worker later entered the room and found the woman motionless on the bed, with the man nowhere in sight.
“The two came in together earlier in the day, but when a worker went to the room, the lady was seen lifeless on the bed and the man had disappeared,” the source told our correspondent. “The staff immediately alerted others, and the matter was promptly reported to the police station in Ore.”
According to the source, there were no visible injuries or indications of a struggle in the room, deepening the mystery surrounding her death.
Confirming the development on Thursday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, said detectives had commenced efforts to track down the fleeing suspect.
“Yes, the incident happened. We have begun an investigation, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect,” the PPRO stated.
The woman’s body has since been deposited at a hospital morgue in the community as investigations continue.
