Ibadan – Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Moses Adewole, has officially taken over as the Acting Controller of the Oyo/Osun Area Command following the redeployment of Comptroller Gambo Aliyu to the Federal Operations Unit, Zone A, Lagos.

The handover ceremony took place on Monday at the Operational Headquarters of the Command in Ibadan, Oyo State. Adewole, in his maiden address, thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs, BA Adeniyi MFR, for entrusting him with the leadership of the Command at a critical period.

“I am grateful to the Comptroller-General and the management team for this mandate. I am here not just to assume office, but to work hand in hand with officers and men of this Command to accomplish the goals and aspirations of the Nigeria Customs Service,” Adewole said.

He pledged to intensify collaboration with security agencies to combat smuggling, enhance training and retraining programs for officers, and strengthen engagement with traditional rulers in the region.

Adewole also expressed appreciation to his predecessor, Comptroller Gambo Aliyu, for his exemplary leadership and achievements in revenue generation and anti-smuggling operations.

Aliyu, who served as the 27th Customs Area Controller of the Oyo/Osun Command, commended the officers and men for their resilience and dedication, which he said contributed to the Command’s successes in border surveillance and protection of the national economy. He urged Adewole to build on existing achievements and continue the community-focused initiatives, including the solar-powered center project at Iragbiji.

In his remarks, Aliyu said, “I urge the incoming controller to prioritize engagement with border communities and sustain human capital development programs. Such efforts are vital for continued success and stronger Customs-community relations.”

The ceremony witnessed the presence of officers of the Command and dignitaries, including the Special Adviser on Migration and Homeland Security to the Oyo State Governor, ACG Barr. Segun Adegoke (retd), among others.
