Mass Defection Rocks Benue South as NNPP, APC, LP, ADC Chieftains Join PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue South Senatorial District received a massive boost on Saturday, October 11, 2025, as key political figures from the NNPP, APC, ADC, and LP defected to the PDP in Ogoli-Ugboju, Otukpo Local Government Area.

Leading the wave of defectors was Chief Barr. Isaac Oduh, former NNPP Senatorial candidate, who stormed the event with hundreds of supporters to formally declare their allegiance to the PDP. He said the decision was inspired by the visionary and people-centered leadership of Senator Dr. Abba Moro, Senate Minority Leader and representative of Benue South.

“Senator Moro’s leadership has shown that politics is about service, not self-interest,” Oduh stated.
“We are convinced that the PDP remains the most organized and people-oriented party in Benue and Nigeria. We have come home, and we will work for total victory in 2027.”

Welcoming the new members, Rt. Hon. Chief Ezekiel Adaji, Benue State PDP Chairman, promised full integration and equal opportunities for all. He lauded Senator Moro for fostering unity among Zone C stakeholders, describing the mass return as a reflection of the PDP’s growing strength in the state.

Also speaking, Rt. Hon. Michael Audu, Member representing Adoka/Ugboju in the Benue State House of Assembly, applauded the defectors for making what he called a “bold and wise decision,” reaffirming that the PDP remains a home for all who believe in progress.

In his remarks, Senator Abba Moro expressed delight over the defection, calling it “a sign of renewed trust” in the PDP. He assured the newcomers of equal treatment and pledged to sustain his people-centered representation through empowerment and development programs.

The event also featured the distribution of wheelchairs to persons with disabilities across the nine Local Government Areas of Benue South (Zone C). Personally presenting the items, Senator Moro emphasized that “there is ability in disability,” reiterating his commitment to inclusive governance.

He further urged party aspirants in Adoka/Ugboju to embrace unity and humility, noting that PDP’s success in 2027 hinges on internal harmony.

“We must remember that the wisdom of man is foolishness in the eyes of God,” he cautioned.

The Senator also lamented the persistent marginalization of Zone C in federal appointments and infrastructure, calling on the authorities to ensure fairness and equity.

The well-attended event featured several PDP stalwarts, including Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Adaji, Rt. Hon. Michael Audu, Hon. Isaac Ochekiye, Hon. Alice Albert (PDP Women Leader), Rt. Hon. Solomon Onah, Hon. Edor Ogbole, Hon. Amina Audu, Hon. Emmanuel Adokwu, Hon. Charles Onoja, Hon. Mohammed Adama, and Hon. Stephen Akatu, among others.
