‘Let Davido Address Me Directly’ — Woman Claiming Singer’s Paternity

0

Ayo Labinjoh, the mother of a teenage girl who claims to be the daughter of Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has accused the singer’s father, Dr Deji Adeleke, of intimidation and undue interference in a matter she insists should be handled directly by Davido himself.

In a statement published on her daughter’s Instagram page, Labinjoh said she was shocked to discover that her sister had allegedly been in contact with Dr Adeleke since 2020 without her knowledge. She described the development as a betrayal and questioned why members of her family were communicating with the Adeleke family over the issue.

Labinjoh maintained that Davido, not his father, should take responsibility for addressing the paternity claim. She accused Dr Adeleke of abusing his influence and wealth, stressing that her demand was not about financial support.

“I am not Sophia negotiating child support. Let Davido address me,” she wrote, insisting that her daughter’s case was about identity, not money.

She further warned that if any harm came to herself, her daughter, or her mother, law enforcement agencies should hold Dr Adeleke responsible. According to her, her sister, Titilayo Labinjoh, had recently contacted their mother from Abuja, expressing fear over renewed media attention surrounding the teenager.

Labinjoh also disputed earlier claims by Dr Adeleke regarding DNA tests allegedly conducted in 2020. She said neither she nor her daughter ever met with him for additional DNA testing, contrary to public statements made by the Adeleke family.

According to her, the DNA process referenced by the family was flawed, and she demanded that all test results be made public. “Post the tests, sir,” she wrote, addressing Dr Adeleke directly.

Addressing questions surrounding the management of her daughter’s social media presence, Labinjoh acknowledged that controversial blogger, Dr Kemi Olunloyo, opened the Instagram account several years ago and handed it over to the family in 2019. She said she was not an active social media user and had not posted for years.

She also disclosed that her daughter currently lives with her grandmother, while she travels across border countries for trading activities.

Labinjoh denied claims that her daughter had ever met Davido’s cousin, Adebayo Adeleke, popularly known as B Red, or that he was involved in the DNA controversy, describing such allegations as speculative and harmful.

Her statement comes amid ongoing public debate following comments by Dr Deji Adeleke, who recently told journalists that DNA tests conducted in Lagos returned negative results. He also claimed that the family had provided financial support to the child and her mother over the years, adding that he would accept the child if scientific evidence proved Davido’s paternity.

Labinjoh, however, rejected those claims, reiterating that her daughter is seeking clarity rather than conflict. “My daughter is fighting for her identity,” she said, noting that prolonged public scrutiny and harsh public commentary have taken a toll on the teenager’s mental health.
