The Labour Party (LP) has called on former President Goodluck Jonathan and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to embrace the leadership path represented by Peter Obi.
Tony Akeni, the party’s Interim National Publicity Secretary, made the appeal on Friday during an interview with Arise Television.
“We have a third leg in our appeal; we are urging former President Jonathan to consider the vision that the majority of Nigerians have embraced—a presidency led by a younger person from a new generation, who resonates with the people through integrity, character, and consistency,” Akeni said.
He added, “Most Nigerians have shown their support for a leadership led by a younger person who connects with the majority. What’s more urgent now is for Atiku Abubakar and Goodluck Jonathan to accept that it’s time for a redirection.”
The statement reinforces the Labour Party’s focus on youth-led leadership and its belief that Peter Obi represents the future direction Nigerians desire.
