Abuja, Nigeria — The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Ikechukwu Emetu, has reaffirmed the Labour Party’s commitment to inclusiveness, declaring that the party is open to all Nigerians, regardless of status or political background.

Emetu, who also serves as Chairman of the party’s National Steering Committee on Membership, Revalidation and e-Registration, made the statement during the presentation of a new membership drive report by the Nenadi Usman–led National Caretaker Committee.

Describing the Labour Party as a truly national platform, Emetu said no individual is excluded from joining the party.

“The Labour Party is a party for all, irrespective of who they are,” he stated. “It is a national party and not a cult group where people are restricted from coming in.”

In a remark that drew attention, the deputy governor said even President Bola Ahmed Tinubu could join the party if he so desired.

“Even Mr President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, can decide, on or before the 2027 elections, to join the Labour Party, and we will gladly accept him,” Emetu said.

He emphasized that the party’s open-door policy reflects its democratic ideals and vision for broad national participation, insisting that the Labour Party remains a platform for every Nigerian willing to be part of its political project.
