ABUJA — The Nenadi Usman-led faction of the Labour Party has lashed out at President Bola Tinubu over Nigeria’s deteriorating security situation, urging him to either take decisive action or step down from office.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, the factional National Publicity Secretary, Tony Akeni, accused both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and its predecessor, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), of collectively failing Nigerians on security despite trillions of naira and billions of dollars poured into defence over the past decade.
“The present security crisis is the cumulative failure of both APC and PDP. Neither of them can absolve itself of blame,” the statement declared.
The group stressed that safeguarding lives and property remains the foremost duty of any government, warning that Tinubu must rise to the challenge.
“If President Tinubu cannot deliver this, he should sack Nuhu Ribadu, reconfigure the armed services, step up his security governance, or do Nigerians a patriotic favour by sacking himself,” the statement added.
