Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, Secretary of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and son of former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has officially resigned his membership from the New Nigeria People’s Party.

The announcement was made in a statement released on Monday via his Facebook page, where he described the decision as deliberate and carefully considered.

“I want to inform the general public that as of today, I have officially resigned my membership from the NNPP,” the statement read.

Mustapha further disclosed that he is in the process of joining the African Democratic Congress, marking what he called the beginning of a new phase in his political career.

According to him, the move is rooted in his belief that the ADC provides a stronger platform to drive meaningful change in Nigeria, particularly in Kano State.

“My decision to join the ADC is driven by my conviction that it is best positioned to bring the desired change and progress to our country,” he stated, adding that the party’s vision aligns with his goals of promoting good governance, economic growth, and improved welfare for citizens.

The development signals a notable shift within the Kwankwasiyya political structure and may have implications for party alignments ahead of future political contests in Kano and beyond.
