ABUJA — Former Kano State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, may be considering a political return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to House of Representatives member Abdulmumin Jibrin.
Jibrin, a chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), revealed during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday that Kwankwaso has not shut the door on working with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu under the APC platform.
“As far as that [joining APC] is concerned, he has always maintained that his doors are open, our doors are open for discussions. Everything is a possibility,” Jibrin stated.
When asked if he would follow Kwankwaso should he eventually defect from the NNPP, the lawmaker clarified that his own political decisions remain personal.
“I am an adult capable of making my own decisions,” Jibrin said.
Kwankwaso, who left the APC in 2022 to contest the presidency on the NNPP platform, has remained a key figure in Nigeria’s opposition politics, with his next political move closely watched by both allies and rivals.
