Kwankwaso Condemns Kwara Massacre, Warns Against Leniency Toward Terrorists

The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has warned that terrorists must not be treated lightly or allowed to take root in any part of Nigeria.

Kwankwaso, a former Minister of Defence and two-time governor of Kano State, made the remarks while condemning the killing of no fewer than 162 people in the Woro and Nuku communities of Kwara State, describing the attacks as barbaric and deeply disturbing.

In a statement posted on his verified Facebook page, the NNPP chieftain expressed shock and sorrow over the incident, while cautioning that terrorist groups were gradually expanding their operations into areas previously considered peaceful and secure.

“I am deeply saddened and horrified by the reported massacre of at least 162 innocent lives in the communities of Woro and Nuku in Kwara State,” he said.

“This barbaric attack is condemnable in the strongest terms. It was carried out by terrorist elements that must not be tolerated or allowed to fester in any part of our nation.”

Kwankwaso warned that Nigeria’s growing security challenges must not be treated with complacency, noting that the expanding activities of violent groups were placing increasing pressure on the nation’s armed forces.

“As I have consistently warned, these violent groups are steadily expanding their reach into regions that were once peaceful and secure. With each passing day, the burden on our armed forces grows heavier, making the need for decisive and coordinated action more urgent,” he added.

He called on the Federal Government to adopt firm, coordinated measures to curb the deteriorating security situation and prevent further loss of lives.

Kwankwaso also extended his condolences to the families of the victims, the people of Kwara State, and the state government.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the entire people of Kwara State, and the state government during this moment of profound grief. May God grant the departed eternal rest and comfort all who mourn,” he said.
