The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to building a transparent and sustainable aviation fuel supply chain through continuous dialogue among key stakeholders in the industry.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, made the pledge while emphasizing the government’s focus on creating policies and partnerships that guarantee the availability, accessibility, and affordability of aviation fuel across Nigeria.
Speaking through the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Henry Agbebire, at the Gateway Colloquium organized by CITA in collaboration with the League of Airports and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) in Lagos, the minister commended the choice of theme: “Aviation Fuel Business: The Scenario and the Metaphor.”
Keyamo described the topic as timely and thought-provoking, noting that aviation fuel remains one of the most critical determinants of efficiency, affordability, and sustainability within the nation’s aviation ecosystem.
“Aviation fuel sits at the very heart of airline operations. It is not only a key cost driver for airlines but also a strategic indicator of national logistics and economic vitality,” the minister said. “The scenario reminds us of present realities — fluctuating prices, supply vulnerabilities, and infrastructural challenges — while the metaphor challenges us to look deeper, to envision a new energy paradigm that drives growth, innovation, and environmental responsibility in Nigeria’s aviation sector.”
He stressed that the ministry remains committed to promoting continuous dialogue between government, oil marketers, and airline operators in order to develop a fair and transparent fuel supply framework that supports both economic sustainability and operational excellence.
“This conversation today is more than an analysis of challenges; it’s an opportunity to shape solutions,” Keyamo stated. “I urge all participants to speak freely, think boldly, and help chart a path that will make Nigeria’s aviation industry stronger, more efficient, and truly sustainable.”
The colloquium, which attracted key aviation stakeholders, provided a platform to address prevailing issues in aviation fuel pricing and distribution while exploring innovative strategies to ensure long-term sectoral stability and competitiveness.
