Kebbi Govt Denies Rewarding Political Thugs With Jobs

The Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to the Kebbi State Governor, Abdullahi Idris, has debunked claims that Governor Nasir Idris is offering government jobs or contracts to political thugs.

Speaking during a live interview on TVC News on Tuesday, Idris described the allegations as “cheap and baseless,” stressing that the governor runs a transparent process in both appointments and contract awards.

“Never, forever. The governor doesn’t give an appointment just like that for political reasons,” he said. “When the governor wants to give you an appointment, he consults your local government or emirate to check your credibility, sincerity, and honesty.”

He explained that traditional and religious leaders play a key role in vetting nominees, making it impossible for political thugs to be recommended for government positions.

“How can a district head, a traditional ruler, or a religious leader recommend a political thug for employment in the government?” Idris queried.

The governor’s aide emphasized that the administration neither empowers nor encourages violence, insisting its priority is maintaining peace and creating opportunities for citizens.

“All these words are mere and cheap allegations,” he added. “The governor’s focus is on building the state, attracting investment, creating jobs, and ensuring good governance — not rewarding violence.”
