The Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has expressed confidence that the support of his constituents will secure his re-election, insisting that his political victories have always been through genuine votes and not electoral manipulation.
Speaking to journalists at his Igbere residence on Thursday, Kalu dismissed claims of election rigging, stressing that he has never won any election through malpractice, whether as a former governor of Abia State or as a serving senator.
“I have never rigged elections and I will never support that. I only want the will of the people to prevail,” Kalu said.
The senator made the remarks while reacting to recent comments by Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, concerning election rigging in the state. Kalu maintained that his track record in public office reflects popular support rather than electoral fraud.
He also accused Governor Otti of permitting his media aides to launch attacks against him on social media, describing such actions as unnecessary and misleading.
Kalu reiterated his belief that the people of Abia North remain firmly behind him and that their support would once again translate into electoral victory.
