Lesotho ended their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign on a high note with a dramatic 1-0 victory over Zimbabwe on Monday night.
With the match seemingly destined for a goalless draw, the Crocodiles snatched all three points in stoppage time thanks to Hlompho Kalake — the same man who found the net in their narrow 2-1 loss to Nigeria last week.
Despite the late heroics, Lesotho’s World Cup hopes have been dashed, as the result leaves them fourth in the group standings with 12 points from 10 games and a goal difference of -3.
Benin Republic currently lead the table with 17 points, followed by South Africa on 15 and Nigeria on 14, with all three still having one game left to play.
