Kaka Igbokwe, former manager of Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has confirmed that the old viral video showing the singer being arrested in London stemmed from a real incident involving his pregnant wife, Natasha Osawaru.
The confirmation came during an Instagram Live session with broadcaster Daddy Freeze on Thursday evening. Igbokwe—who is also the son of late music legend Christy Essien-Igbokwe—revealed that “everything you heard about the couple’s face-off was true.”
According to him, he was part of 2Baba’s London team and was on the same flight with the couple when the altercation occurred. He explained that Natasha became upset after they landed because she felt 2Baba abandoned her while fans whisked him into a shop shortly after arrival.
Realising she had been left behind, the “African Queen” hitmaker rushed back to her, but the confrontation quickly escalated. The heated exchange drew the attention of airport security, eventually leading to 2Baba’s arrest and handcuffing.
The video of the incident, posted online on December 1, 2025, resurfaced old controversies and reignited debates across social media. Many Nigerians had previously dismissed the claims after 2Baba released a video in which he denied being arrested, insisting instead that he missed an October 2 concert due to a medical emergency.
Despite his denial, the rumours persisted until blogger Tosin Silverdam reposted what he described as “new evidence” on Instagram and X. The viral clip appeared to show police officers speaking with 2Baba at Gatwick Airport before escorting him away. Silverdam also shared a separate video of the couple arguing, suggesting Natasha was angered by the attention her husband received from fans.
Screenshots from the circulating footage have fueled renewed conversations about the long-dismissed incident, drawing mixed reactions from fans and commentators.
The debate continues as fresh details emerge, putting the spotlight once again on 2Baba’s personal life and the events surrounding his missed UK tour date.
