Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has declared that the state will strongly support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing what he described as unprecedented federal support and tangible dividends of democracy delivered to Kaduna and the country at large.
The governor made this known on Sunday during a stakeholders’ engagement on the ongoing nationwide e-registration of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing stakeholders from Zone 2, Governor Sani said Kaduna State is targeting the registration of 2.5 million APC members, stressing that the party has become the dominant political force in the state.
He attributed the growing strength of the APC to his administration’s inclusive development model, which ensures equitable distribution of projects across the state, as well as major federal government interventions attracted under President Tinubu’s leadership. According to him, these factors have triggered mass defections from opposition parties into the APC.
The governor highlighted President Tinubu’s approval of N1 billion support for the Kaduna State Light Rail project, describing it as unprecedented in northern Nigeria.
“No other subnational government has enjoyed this level of support for a light rail project, apart from Lagos State,” he said.
Governor Sani also revealed that Kaduna has been selected as the pilot state for a major poultry project initiated by the federal government in partnership with China. He disclosed that the project, which is expected to generate at least 350,000 jobs, has received federal approval of $200 million.
“Only three weeks ago, I was in China with the Director-General of the Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership, at the instance of President Bola Tinubu. Kaduna State will host the biggest poultry project in Sub-Saharan Africa, and the groundbreaking will take place in the next three weeks,” the governor said.
He added that the initiative would support about 10,000 direct and indirect small businesses, particularly small and medium-scale enterprises allied to poultry farming.
Governor Sani further commended President Tinubu for approving the construction of the Mando–Birnin Gwari road and the reconstruction of the Kwoi–Jema’a road, describing both as critical infrastructure projects for the state.
He also noted that several projects have been approved in the current federal budget through collaboration between the Kaduna State Government and the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajuddeen Abbas, particularly for Zone 1.
According to the governor, Zone 1, also known as the northern senatorial district, has benefited more than any other zone in the state, adding that the presence of Speaker Abbas has been a major advantage for Kaduna.
He equally praised the Minister of Environment, Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, for his role in supporting the state, especially through projects under the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) programme.
“In the next one or two months, we will be doing the groundbreaking for major projects in Zaria and Rigasa, valued at about N53 billion, made possible through the efforts of the Minister of Environment,” he said.
Governor Sani concluded that with the achievements of his administration and the volume of federal projects attracted under President Tinubu, Kaduna State would emerge as one of the leading states in the APC e-registration exercise.
The governor had earlier held similar engagements with stakeholders from Zone 2 on Saturday, covering Kaduna North and South, Chikun, Kajuru, Igabi, Birnin Gwari and Giwa local government areas.
On Sunday, he also met with stakeholders from Zone 1, comprising Zaria, Sabon Gari, Soba, Makarfi, Kubau, Kudan, Ikara and Lere local government areas, as well as stakeholders from Zone 3, including Zangon Kataf, Kachia, Jaba, Jema’a, Kaura, Kagarko and Sanga local governments.
