The Diocese of Kaduna, Anglican Communion, has announced the passing of The Venerable Edwin Achi, the Priest-in-Charge of Ebenezer Anglican Church, Ungwan Maijero. His death has led to the cancellation of the widely anticipated “Stand Up for Jesus 2025” event.
The announcement was released through the Diocese’s official Facebook page. Ven. Achi was kidnapped alongside his wife on October 28, 2025. The Diocese confirmed that he has died in captivity, describing the news as a devastating loss to the Church and all who were touched by his ministry.
“His faithful service, humble spirit, and unwavering devotion to God leave a lasting legacy,” the Diocese noted.
Church members and authorities continue to pray for the safe release of his wife and daughter, who are still being held by the abductors.
To honour the late cleric, the Diocese announced the cancellation of the “Stand Up for Jesus 2025” programme. The statement ended with the solemn words: “The Lord be with you.”
