At a plenary session led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule, Majority Leader Major Jack formally read a notice alleging gross misconduct by Governor Fubara. The document, endorsed by 26 lawmakers, accuses the governor of actions purportedly in violation of the Nigerian Constitution.

Speaker Amaewhule confirmed that the impeachment notice will be formally served on the governor within seven days.

In the same session, Deputy Majority Leader Linda Stewart presented a separate notice of allegations and gross misconduct against Deputy Governor Ngozi Oduh, signaling that both top executives of the state are now under formal scrutiny by the legislature.

The developments mark a significant escalation in Rivers State politics, with potential implications for governance and stability in the state.
