Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Governor of Adamawa State, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor made the announcement in a statewide broadcast on Friday, confirming that members of his cabinet and the PDP structure in Adamawa State have also aligned with the ruling party.
Fintiri said the decision followed extensive consultations and was motivated by the need to accelerate development across the state. According to him, the move is in the overriding interest of the people of Adamawa and is aimed at strengthening collaboration with the Federal Government to deliver critical infrastructure and social services.
He emphasized that the realignment would open new opportunities for investment, improved security coordination, and enhanced federal support for ongoing and future projects in the state.
The development marks a significant shift in Adamawa’s political landscape and is expected to reshape party dynamics ahead of future electoral contests.
