Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has announced herself as the President General of the “Single Mothers Association,” declaring that the era of stigma against single mothers is firmly in the past.
The actress made the statement at the birthday celebration of fellow Nollywood star, Lola Alao, in a video that has since gone viral on social media.
Speaking passionately, Iyabo Ojo celebrated the resilience and success of single mothers, noting that their children are excelling and making meaningful contributions to society.
“Gone are the days that being a single mother was a stigma,” she said. “Single mothers’ children are now doing great things in our society.”
She further stated that societal attitudes have shifted, claiming that single mothers are now being openly admired and sought after for marriage.
“Now, men are chasing and even begging us single mothers that they want to marry us as wives, not side chicks, because we have experience,” she added.
Encouraging women not to feel diminished by failed relationships, the actress remarked, “If a man leaves you, another man will accept you.”
Iyabo Ojo concluded her remarks by formally declaring her new title as President General of the Single Mothers Association, a statement that has continued to spark widespread reactions and debate online.
