Iran has issued a strong warning to the United States amid reports of a potential increase in American troop presence in the Middle East, signaling heightened tensions in the region.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, disclosed on Wednesday via X (formerly Twitter) that Tehran is closely monitoring all U.S. military movements, particularly any troop deployments.
In his statement, Ghalibaf emphasized Iran’s vigilance and resolve, warning that increased U.S. military activity could escalate instability. “We are closely monitoring all U.S. movements in the region, particularly troop deployments,” the translated post read.
He further criticized the potential deployment, stating, “What the generals have ruined, the soldiers can’t fix; instead, they will become victims of Benjamin Netanyahu’s reckless policies. Do not question our resolve to defend our land.”
The remarks come in response to reports by Associated Press and The New York Times indicating that Washington is considering sending an additional 1,000 to 2,000 troops to the Middle East. This would add to the approximately 50,000 U.S. personnel already stationed across the region.
According to the reports, about 4,500 U.S. Marines are already en route, further signaling a potential military buildup.
The development underscores rising geopolitical tensions, with Iran signaling readiness to respond decisively to any perceived threats to its sovereignty.
