INEC Unveils AI-Powered Training Bot Ahead of Anambra Governorship Election

As preparations gather momentum for the #AnambraDecides2025 governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has introduced a groundbreaking digital innovation aimed at strengthening the capacity of its workforce and key stakeholders.

The Commission on Friday announced the launch of the INEC Training Virtual Assistant, also known as “INECTrainingBot,” a technology-driven learning tool designed to revolutionize electoral training and enhance operational efficiency across all levels of the Commission.

Available on Telegram, the INECTrainingBot provides users with 24-hour access to essential election materials, interactive learning modules, and self-paced tutorials — allowing field officers, administrative staff, and ad-hoc personnel to train flexibly and efficiently ahead of the polls.

INEC described the innovation as part of its ongoing commitment to “smarter learning” and capacity development, ensuring that all personnel are “fully equipped for their critical roles” before and during the election.

According to the Commission, the virtual assistant’s key features include a user-friendly interface, mobile accessibility, and real-time feedback options that support continuous learning and engagement, even in remote locations.

Meanwhile, INEC has confirmed October 22 to 26 as the official window for the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to citizens who registered during the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Anambra State.

The announcement was made in a statement by Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi, Director of Voter Education and Publicity at INEC headquarters in Abuja. She advised registered voters to visit the registration areas where they initially registered to collect their PVCs, stressing that collection will be strictly by the individual voter — with no allowance for proxy pickups.

“All registered voters are urged to ensure they collect their PVCs within the specified period to be eligible to vote in the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra,” Eta-Messi said.

In preparation for the polls, INEC also revealed that a mock accreditation exercise will be conducted on Saturday, October 25, across selected polling units in the three senatorial districts of the state. The exercise aims to test the performance of the upgraded Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and evaluate its efficiency in uploading results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) ahead of the main election.

The Commission reaffirmed its readiness to deliver a transparent, credible, and technologically driven election in Anambra, noting that both innovations — the INECTrainingBot and the BVAS test run — reflect its broader commitment to electoral excellence and digital transformation.
