The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released key dates for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and a mock accreditation exercise in preparation for the 2025 Anambra State Governorship Election.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, the Commission announced that PVC collection for voters who participated in the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) will take place from Wednesday, October 22 to Sunday, October 26, 2025.

INEC urged all eligible voters to collect their PVCs at their designated Registration Areas, emphasizing that collection must be done in person only, as proxy collection will not be allowed. The Commission described the exercise as vital for those intending to vote in the forthcoming election, encouraging early collection to avoid last-minute rushes.

As part of its preparations, INEC also scheduled a mock accreditation exercise for Saturday, October 25, 2025, in selected polling units across the three senatorial districts of the state. The exercise aims to test the upgraded Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), evaluate its efficiency, and assess the seamless upload of results to the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) Portal ahead of the main election.

The selected polling units include:

  • Anambra Central: Awka South (Amawbia II – Igwédimma Primary School I & II), Idemili North (Nkpor II – Ububa Village Square, Ifeadigo Hall)
  • Anambra North: Oyi (Nteje III & IV – Girls Secondary School, State Primary School), Anambra East (Aguleri II – Central School, Umunoke Public Square I)
  • Anambra South: Aguata (Ekwulobia I & II – Central School, Urban Girls Secondary School), Orumba North (Ajalli I – Primary School, RCM KDT School)

INEC called on voters in these areas to take part in the mock accreditation, noting that their feedback would help the Commission fine-tune its operational and technological processes ahead of the governorship election.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, efficiency, and credibility, INEC assured that adequate logistics and security measures are being put in place to guarantee a smooth electoral process in the state.

The Anambra Governorship Election, slated for November 8, 2025, will mark the end of Governor Charles Soludo’s first term under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). The high-stakes contest is expected to feature major political parties — including the Labour Party (LP), All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and APGA — all jostling for control of the politically significant South-East state, regarded as Peter Obi’s political stronghold.
