I’m Not Joining ADC — Ex-Benue Commissioner Omale Dismisses Defection Rumour

The immediate past Benue State Commissioner for Power, Renewable Energy and Transport, Mr. Omale Omale, has debunked reports linking him with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the claims as baseless and mischievous.

In a statement released on Monday in Makurdi, Omale said he remains a loyal and founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has no intention of abandoning the party he helped build.

According to him, his political commitment to the APC and Governor Hyacinth Alia remains unwavering, adding that rumours of his defection were the handiwork of political detractors attempting to sow discord within the ruling party.

“I have sacrificed so much for the APC in the past and cannot abandon the party now that the time is approaching for me to reap the fruits of my labour,” Omale said.

“I overcame obstacles and defeated the enemy within and outside to ensure that we enthroned Gov. Hyacinth Alia in 2023. I was privileged to be appointed as a commissioner in the state. I have a very bright future in the party and a strong belief that my time is about to come.”

The former state legal adviser emphasized that Governor Alia remains his political leader and the undisputed leader of the APC in Benue, insisting that there is no justification for him to “romance with a political party that is yet to find its footing.”

He added that the alleged defection story was deliberately crafted to damage his relationship with the governor and destabilize the unity within the APC in Benue State.

“This fake romance is outrightly untrue and deliberately designed to destroy my good relationship with our dear governor,” he said. “I am an Alia supporter and will continue to support him. He is the leader of my political party and the state, and I have no single reason to stop supporting him.”

Omale reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, calling on his supporters and the public to disregard the rumours, which he described as “the imagination of desperate rumour-mongers.”
