“I’ll Support Trump’s Effort to End Terrorism in Nigeria” — Wike Declares

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed his willingness to support United States President Donald Trump if the American leader provides technological assistance to help Nigeria combat terrorism.

Wike stated this on Monday during an interview on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme monitored by DAILY POST.

His comments came in reaction to recent statements by President Trump, who alleged that Christians were being persecuted in Nigeria. The former U.S. president had also designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” and claimed he had instructed the U.S. Defence Department to prepare for possible military action if the killings continued.

Responding to the controversy, Wike said his focus was on practical solutions to end terrorism, not political rhetoric.

“It is not enough for me to capitalise on the fact that people are dying in Plateau, Benue, and other places,” Wike said. “I have said that I will support Trump in providing and supporting Nigeria with technology in the fight against terrorism. I will also support any country that wants to proffer solutions in tackling terrorism in Nigeria.”

The minister’s remarks have sparked mixed reactions among political observers, with some viewing his statement as a call for global collaboration against insecurity, while others see it as a controversial endorsement of Trump’s position.
