Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on Tuesday visited Kebbi State in response to the recent abduction of schoolgirls from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga.
According to Channels Television, the Police Chief is expected to hold a closed-door meeting with Governor Nasir Idris before addressing officers and men of the command as part of his visit.
Egbetokun’s trip follows a security briefing with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Sunday, where the rising cases of abductions across Kebbi, Niger, and Kwara states were reviewed.
Present at the high-level briefing were top security chiefs, including the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyode; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kelvin Aneke; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas; Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General E.A.P. Undiendeye; Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waidi Shaibu; and the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Tosin Ajayi.
Security agencies say efforts are ongoing to rescue the abducted schoolgirls and enhance safety across affected communities.
