ICPC Recommends Prosecution of Alleged Fake Investment Council DG After Probe Ordered by Tinubu

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has submitted an interim report to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on its investigation into the alleged fictitious Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), recommending the prosecution of the council’s purported Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi.

ICPC Chairman, Musa Aliyu, disclosed this on Thursday after a meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The development comes 30 days after the President directed the anti-corruption agency to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the activities of the disputed council following allegations surrounding its legitimacy.

According to Aliyu, the commission’s preliminary findings indicate that Adeyemi was never appointed by the Federal Government and that the appointment letter, official gazette, and other documents used to present the PFIPC as a government agency were forged.

The ICPC chairman said the commission has consequently recommended Adeyemi’s prosecution as investigations continue.

The case centres on an alleged corruption and forgery scandal involving the purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, an entity the investigation suggests was fraudulently presented as an official government institution.
