Gas Constraints Trigger Power Supply Drop Across South-East — EEDC

0

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc (EEDC) has explained that the recent decline in electricity supply across the South-East is due to low system frequency caused by gas constraints affecting power generation companies nationwide.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, EEDC’s Group Head, Corporate Communications, Mr. Emeka Eze, said the situation forced the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to embark on load shedding of available energy, resulting in reduced power allocation to the distribution company.

He noted that the development has adversely impacted EEDC’s daily electricity supply to customers across the region.

According to the company, customers served by its franchise operators — MainPower, TransPower, FirstPower, NewEra and EastLand — have all been affected by the shortfall.

EEDC added that relevant stakeholders within the power sector are actively working to address the gas-related challenges and restore normal electricity distribution as soon as possible.

The company apologised to its customers for the inconvenience caused and expressed appreciation for their patience and understanding during the period.
