Fuel Pricing Beyond Our Control — PETROAN President Says

0

The President of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria, Billy Gillis-Harry, has clarified that fuel pricing falls outside the association’s responsibility, emphasizing that its primary focus remains ensuring consistent product availability across the country.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Monday, Gillis-Harry stated that PETROAN members are currently prioritizing the steady distribution of petroleum products to meet national demand.

He noted that the association has maintained a reliable supply chain, particularly through sourcing from the Dangote Refinery, adding that there have been no setbacks in accessing products from the facility so far.

Gillis-Harry explained that fuel pricing is influenced by broader market dynamics, especially the rising cost of crude oil used as feedstock in refining. According to him, these factors are beyond the control of retail outlet owners.

He, however, acknowledged the growing concern over increasing fuel costs and stressed the need for collaborative efforts to cushion the impact on Nigerians.

“We must continue to explore practical solutions that will prevent undue hardship for citizens,” he said.
