Fubara Won’t Dump PDP for APC

Public affairs analyst, Adeniyi Ifetayo, has ruled out the possibility of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on The Morning Brief, a Channels Television programme, on Tuesday, Ifetayo said Fubara’s actions since his reinstatement suggest he is not desperate to cling to power at all costs.

“I don’t see that coming. If you look at it, even when he was called back, if he were someone desperate to hold onto power, I’m sure he would have jumped into office immediately. But it took him 24–48 hours before he resumed,” he noted.

Ifetayo also expressed hope that the political feud between Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is truly over following Wike’s public declaration of forgiveness.

“Since the FCT Minister said he has forgiven him, let’s see that he has indeed forgiven and forgotten about what happened in the past. Maybe they will allow him to run for a second term,” he added.

DAILY POST recalls that Fubara, his deputy, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly were reinstated on September 17 after the suspension of the six-month state of emergency imposed on the state in March.
