Fubara Joins APC, Vows to Strengthen Tinubu’s Grip in Rivers State

Port Harcourt, Rivers State – Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has officially defected from the crisis-ridden Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the move is a gesture of gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for stabilising the state.

Speaking during his reception at the State Government House in Port Harcourt, Fubara said aligning Rivers State with the Tinubu-led federal government would ease governance and political coordination.

“I took this decision as my return of favour; my own clearing the bush to ensure that the President’s re-election in 2027 will be easy and smooth in this state,” Fubara stated. “Now that we are all in one party – I know we have always supported, but from different flats – we are inside one flat. The job is now easier to fulfil what we have promised the President.”

At the event, the governor completed his APC membership forms and was formally handed the party slip and membership card. The APC delegation was led by the state chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, and Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo.

Fubara also pledged to strengthen the party in Rivers State. “We will do everything to keep APC as the main and active progressive party in Rivers State. Every need of the exco and the party becomes my responsibility,” he added.

He further outlined his mission to rally support for the APC across the state, promising to “preach the news of Mr President, soften every strongman in this state, and ensure a smooth sail for the party in Rivers State.”
