France’s Prime Minister, Sébastien Lecornu, has resigned barely hours after unveiling his new cabinet.
The Elysée Palace confirmed his resignation on Monday following a one-hour meeting with President Emmanuel Macron.
Lecornu, who only replaced François Bayrou less than a month ago, faced immediate backlash over the cabinet’s composition.
Several parties in the National Assembly criticized the line-up as nearly identical to Bayrou’s and warned they would reject it, ultimately triggering Lecornu’s abrupt exit.
