A former two-term senator representing Edo South, Ehigie Uzamere, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a resignation letter dated October 7, 2025, and addressed to Mr. Osaigbovo Godspower, chairman of Ward 12 in Ovia North-East Local Government Area, Uzamere said his decision was born out of conviction and a renewed commitment to serve his people—not out of bitterness.
Uzamere, who first served as a PDP senator in 2007 before winning reelection under the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2011, described politics as a “vehicle for service and representation.”
He wrote, “As the dynamics of the Nigerian political landscape continue to evolve, I find it necessary to seek a new platform that aligns more closely with my vision and desire to continue serving my people effectively.”
Emphasizing his guiding philosophy of “Aiguiyekampe politics without bitterness,” Uzamere thanked the PDP for the opportunities it offered him in the past.
The former lawmaker, a known ally of ex–Vice President Atiku Abubakar, was among top politicians who attended the inauguration meeting of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Edo State.
