Arise Television’s Morning Show anchor, Rufai Oseni, has condemned the Presidency for targeting former President Goodluck Jonathan, urging government officials to prioritize national security over political quarrels.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Oseni criticized the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, for focusing on verbal attacks against Jonathan while residents of Kwara South continue to flee from bandit attacks.
“Mr. Onanuga is busy attacking Jonathan while people are running for safety due to bandits’ activities in Kwara South. Our leaders don’t have empathy at all,” Oseni wrote.
The comments came after Onanuga dismissed calls for Jonathan to contest the 2027 presidential election. In his statement, the presidential aide accused Jonathan’s administration of engaging in “frivolous spending” and leaving the economy in a weakened state, claiming that the economic challenges President Bola Tinubu is currently addressing began under Jonathan’s tenure.
The spat unfolds amid growing political speculation and coalition-building ahead of the 2027 elections, as parties and stakeholders consider strategies to challenge President Tinubu’s reelection bid.
