
The Federal Government has officially declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to commemorate this year’s Easter celebration.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government. In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Minister extended Easter greetings to Christians across Nigeria and in the diaspora.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to reflect on and embrace the core values of selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance, and love, as demonstrated in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
He further called on citizens to remain committed to national unity by upholding tolerance and fostering a strong sense of community.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to national development, the Minister emphasized that ongoing efforts are focused on driving economic growth, achieving national renewal, and ensuring shared prosperity for all Nigerians.
The statement concluded with a message wishing Christians a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration.
