There will be no parade to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day celebration tomorrow in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Federal Government has announced.

The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) disclosed the development yesterday in a statement signed by its Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen.

According to the OSGF, while the traditional parade has been cancelled, other activities lined up for the anniversary will go ahead as planned.

“The cancellation is in no way a diminishment of the significance of this milestone anniversary, and the government remains committed to celebrating Nigeria’s 65th year of independence with dignity and enthusiasm,” Imohiosen stated.

He further noted that the government regrets any inconvenience the cancellation might cause, assuring that the activities scheduled will reflect national pride and unity.

The Federal Government also expressed appreciation for the understanding, support, and cooperation of Nigerians, the diplomatic community, and invited guests.

Imohiosen urged citizens to continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reform initiatives, describing them as essential to the collective vision of building a greater Nigeria.
