FCT Resident Doctors Begin Strike

ABUJA — The Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Capital Territory (ARD-FCT), has embarked on a seven-day warning strike to protest what it described as deep-rooted failures in the FCT health system.

The decision was announced in a communiqué signed by the association’s president, Dr. George Ebong, alongside other executive members.

According to the doctors, the strike is a response to long-standing systemic challenges in the sector, which they say demand urgent and comprehensive reforms.

Dr. Ebong noted that resident doctors in the FCT are working under extreme pressure, often compelled to cover multiple departments due to manpower shortages and poor working conditions.

The association warned that unless authorities address the issues raised, the situation could further deteriorate, putting the health of millions of residents at risk.
