Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany, Femi Fani-Kayode, has launched a scathing response to media personality and politician Dele Momodu, intensifying a public war of words between the two figures.
The exchange follows Momodu’s earlier criticism in which he described Fani-Kayode and Reno Omokri as “perpetual agents of perfidy” lacking credibility.
Reacting via his X (formerly Twitter) account, Fani-Kayode dismissed Momodu’s remarks, stating that his previous commentary had been “polite and restrained,” but appeared to have provoked an emotional reaction. He described Momodu as “tired and worn,” adding that his latest response suggested he was “completely unhinged.”
Fani-Kayode further argued that Momodu was “fighting a lost cause” and claimed his influence had significantly declined. He also projected that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would secure victory in the 2027 general election, asserting that Momodu would retreat from the political scene afterward.
In a particularly sharp remark, Fani-Kayode criticised Momodu’s professional standing, suggesting his “glory days are over” and downplaying his current relevance in Nigeria’s political discourse.
The ambassador also addressed resurfaced comments he made about Tinubu over a decade ago, noting they were expressed during his time in the opposition while serving in former President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign team.
The heated exchange underscores growing political tensions and personal rivalries as conversations around the 2027 elections begin to take shape.
