The family of Isaac Satla, a 22-year-old student from Plateau State, has appealed for urgent financial support to bring his remains back to Nigeria for burial following his tragic murder in South Africa.

Isaac, an e-hailing driver for Bolt, was reportedly abducted and killed by two passengers who had booked his service on February 11. His body and the stolen vehicle were later discovered in Atteridgeville, Moshongo Province, Pretoria. South African police have since arrested the suspects.

Otila Onaja, Isaac’s uncle and family spokesman, told eNCA that the family is struggling with the financial burden of repatriating his body to Jos, where they wish to lay him to rest.

“This is very heartbreaking for us. We need funds to take him back home so that he can be laid to rest in his hometown,” Onaja said. “We also call for increased safety measures for others working in this line of job, like Isaac.”

Describing Isaac as a peaceful and ambitious young man, Onaja highlighted that he had traveled to South Africa in pursuit of better opportunities while studying mobile engineering. “Isaac was our family’s shining light. He was due to graduate next month, loved cars, and was admired by everyone around him. He was hardworking, kind, and always championed his friends,” he added.

The family is now appealing to the Nigerian Diaspora Commission, the government, the Nigerian community in South Africa, well-wishers, and the general public for support to ensure Isaac receives a dignified burial in his homeland.
