A member of the House of Representatives representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, James Faleke, has thrown his weight behind Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as the next governor of Lagos State ahead of the 2027 election.
Hamzat, who currently serves as Deputy Governor, is seeking the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the forthcoming gubernatorial race.
In a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, Faleke urged party stakeholders and supporters, particularly within Ikeja Federal Constituency and across Lagos State, to rally behind Hamzat during the party’s primary elections.
“Good evening all. As we prepare for party primaries next month, I urge all our supporters in Ikeja Federal Constituency and Lagos State to support Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as the next Governor of Lagos State from 2027–2035, IJN,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, a former Lagos State governorship candidate, Funso Doherty, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 gubernatorial election.
Doherty will be running under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). His declaration was made during a party meeting and subsequently announced by ADC Vanguard, the party’s coalition mobilisation arm, via its X handle.
The latest developments signal an early build-up to what is expected to be a keenly contested 2027 governorship race in Lagos.
