The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has unveiled Operation Go Cashless, a new initiative that will eliminate cash transactions across its revenue points.
In a statement on Thursday, the agency said the project is being rolled out in collaboration with Paystack and will take effect from September 29, 2025, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
According to FAAN, payments at access gates, car parks, and FAAN’s VIP and protocol lounges will now be strictly contactless and cashless, ensuring travelers and airport users enjoy faster, safer, and more transparent services.
“Effective September 29, all payments at FAAN’s revenue points will go cashless. This means we are phasing out the collection of cash at these points. Travelers and airport users will now enjoy fast and seamless services by using a secure contactless payment option,” the statement read.
The agency explained that the move responds to growing demand for modern, secure, and globally aligned payment systems, adding that reducing cash handling will boost efficiency, strengthen revenue assurance, and improve customer experience at Nigeria’s airports.
FAAN emphasized that the policy will be introduced in phases across other airports nationwide as part of its commitment to continuous improvement and modernization.
