Enugu Governor Mbah’s Move to APC Marks New Political Alignment for the South-East — Chief Obidike

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Obidike Chukwuebuka, has applauded the defection of Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, describing it as a watershed moment for the South-East and a testament to the growing trust of the Igbo people in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership.

Speaking with our correspondent, Chief Obidike hailed Governor Mbah for what he called “a courageous and patriotic decision,” noting that the move signifies a broader political realignment and renewed confidence in the APC across the South-East.

“Governor Mbah’s defection is not just political; it’s symbolic of a new beginning. It shows that the Igbo people are now truly identifying with President Tinubu’s leadership and the APC. We are witnessing a historic political shift,” Obidike stated.

The APC stalwart, who also chairs Clarivo Oil and Gas Limited, commended President Tinubu for what he described as “unprecedented inclusiveness” and his conscious efforts to integrate the South-East into the mainstream of national governance.

“No President in Nigeria’s recent history has shown such genuine love and political inclusion for the South-East as President Tinubu. The level of appointments, infrastructure projects, and attention we are receiving is remarkable,” he added.

Obidike noted that the current development marks the first time since the First Republic that the Igbo and Yoruba political blocs are aligning at the federal level—a unity that eluded past leaders such as Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

He urged other South-East leaders to follow Governor Mbah’s example by joining the APC to enhance the region’s relevance and participation in Nigeria’s political future.
