Davido, Ayra Starr congratulate South Africa’s Tyla for bagging Grammy award Tyla wins

Grammy-nominated singers Davido and Ayra Starr have sent congratulatory messages to their South African colleague Tyla for winning the Best African Music Performance category at the 2024 Grammys.
The duo took to their individual X accounts to send in their well wishes.

Davido wrote: “Congratulations on your win @Tyllaaaaaaa ! Big One for Africa! Keep soaring”.

Ayra Starr posted: “Congratulations to my babessssss @Tyllaaaaaaa”.

Reort has it that the female rapper and singer won her first Grammy award by beating off the competition from Nigerian acts like; David Adeleke, aka Davido; Ahmed Ololade, aka Asake; and Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy.

Tyla’s ‘Water’ earned her a win on Sunday, February 4, 2024.

Nigerian songs in the same category as the South African are Davido’s ‘Unavailable,’ Asake’s ‘Amapiano,’ Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys,’ and Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush.’

The song ‘Water’ made the top 10 across 16 countries including the UK and the US.

The award was presented at the 66th Grammy Award Premiere Ceremony at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
