Airtel Nigeria, a leading telecoms service provider, has announced its sponsorship of the 16th Headies Music Awards, which will be held on September 3rd, 2023 at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, USA.

According to the organizers, Smooth Promotions, the award, themed “Celebrating Africa Renaissance,” is set to honour outstanding performances from Nigerian and African performers of popular music while also showcasing some of the most riveting displays of artistic prowess, stage mastery, and production talent.

Speaking about the partnership, Airtel Nigeria’s Chief Commercial Officer, Femi Oshinlaja, underlined Airtel’s delight at continuing to support the prestigious music award.

“In line with Airtel’s brand values of innovation and excellence, the partnership with The Headies is a natural fit for us, as we are always delighted and do not rest on our commitment to supporting and nurturing the Nigerian creative industry, and providing a platform for talent discovery,” he said.

The 2023 Headies Award will honour the best in Nigerian music over a wide range of categories, including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best Music Video Producer of the Year, among many others.

Recall that Airtel Nigeria, through its Airtel TV platform, recently recognized young Nigerian innovation by awarding cash prizes to ten innovative young Nigerians through its Imagine with Airtel contest, which drew hundreds of entries, including some from singers, rappers, and producers.

Oshinlaja noted that the Imagine with Airtel contest was one of the practical applications of Airtel Nigeria’s current theme campaign, A Reason to Imagine.
