Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, better known as Ayra Starr, has declined the Best Female Artiste Award at the 2023 Headies Awards, which took place on Sunday.
She added in a tweet on Monday that she would never be grateful for winning a category that wasn’t even considered worthy of being mentioned on stage.
The ‘Bloody Samaritan’ singer went on to say that female musicians like Tiwa Savage, who she witnessed record four smash songs in one night, and Tems, who breathes and breaths music, deserve better.
She wrote, “I will never be grateful for winning a category that wasn’t even deemed fit to be announced on stage! Best female artist na beans?
“We work hard, every single one of us! I’ve seen Tiwa record 4 hit songs in the same night, Tems breaths and lives for music, we didn’t deserve such nonchalance! Nigeria, you didn’t raise me to settle for less.”
