The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested an Abuja-based house agent, Hajia Adama Ahmed Adamu, in connection with an alleged N288 million property fraud.

The arrest was confirmed by the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Commission following a petition filed by a complainant who accused the suspect of fraudulent dealings.

According to the EFCC, Hajia Adamu allegedly obtained the sum of N288 million from one Alhaji Tanko Yawale under the guise of facilitating the purchase of a property located at House 31, Haile Selassie Street, Asokoro, Abuja.

Preliminary investigations revealed that after receiving the payment, the suspect failed to provide valid ownership documents for the property, raising serious concerns about the legitimacy of the transaction.

The Commission further stated that the suspect became evasive after collecting the funds, prompting the complainant to file a formal petition.

Acting on the petition, EFCC operatives tracked and apprehended Hajia Adamu in connection with the alleged offence.

The Commission noted that investigations are ongoing and assured that the suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of its inquiries.
