The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reclaimed over N248 billion, $105 million, and 753 duplexes in its ongoing asset recovery efforts, the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) revealed. At a Strategic Communications Inter-Agency Policy Committee meeting on December 16, 2024, ONSA’s Director of Legal, Mr. Zakari Mijinyawa, also announced that the EFCC secured 3,455 convictions as of October 2024.

Mijinyawa further highlighted that joint military operations led by the National Security Adviser (NSA) rescued 36 abducted farmers on December 8, 2024, while military efforts also led to the prevention of oil theft valued at N57.05 billion.

The EFCC continues to make significant progress in its fight against corruption, with high-profile trials involving four former governors, three ex-ministers, and a former Central Bank governor for money laundering and financial crimes. The commission also launched the EFCC 97.3FM, hosted a cybercrime dialogue, and strengthened international partnerships with agencies like the FBI and Canadian Royal Mounted Police.

In addition, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) recovered N29.7 billion in cash and assets, tracked 1,500 projects nationwide, and secured 13 convictions. The ICPC also participated in global anti-corruption efforts, reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to transparency.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Armed Forces neutralized 8,034 terrorists, arrested 11,623 suspects, and rescued 6,376 hostages across multiple regions.
