Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, has assumed duty as the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, following her redeployment from the Federal Ministry Water Resources.

Former Acting Permanent Secretary, Zubairu Abdullahi, conducted the formal handover ceremony at the headquarters of Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja.

Abdullahi, in his remarks, assured him of maximum support of the management and staff of the Ministry, to ensure collective growth and development of the education sector.

He told her that the Ministers of Education, Prof Tahir Mamman, and Tanko Sununu, have set the pace for the expected transformation of the education sector through the newly developed Education Roadmap.

He neutralized the fear that the Ministry has plenty of administrative and labour challenges that are overwhelming to whoever is superintending over the Ministry.

“Nevertheless, we have huge number of parastatals under the Ministry, quite a number of universities and other tertiary institutions that we supervise, in addition to over 19, 000 staff strength in the ministry. We can’t also rule out periodic strike by ASUU, NASU, NASU, SSANU, and other challenges that often arise from the education sector.

The Permanent Secretary, in her remarks, assured the staff that she’s committed to any cause that will move the education sector forward, and also improve the welfare of its workers.

“But we must adhere to the principles of truth, honesty, fairness and justice in our operations. To this end, as your leader and the Chief Accounting Officer of the Ministry, I pledge to always uphold the truth. I shall be honest with you all the time, and always endeavour to do right to all men and women without fear or favour.

“I urge you to commit to doing the right thing all the time. Whenever you are in doubt about what to do or how to do it, check and seek guidance in the Public Service Rules (PSR) and extant Circulars, and if you cannot find the answer, then do the next right thing.

“Since justice and charity begin at home, I am willing and able to correct all anomalies to ensure we entrench diligence, responsiveness, efficiency, commitment, and dedication, to duty in all our operations,” she promised.
